The Right Place for Injured Workers

What Should I Expect From My Lawyer?

COMMUNICATION, COMMUNICATION, COMMUNICATION!!!!

You’ve probably heard this when it comes to successful marriages.  Well, it absolutely applies to a successful attorney/client relationships.  I follow a group on Facebook with thousands of members across the country discussing their work comp case.  At least a few times a day there are posts about workers having questions, and they either can’t get their attorney to call them back, or their attorney has not explained things to them.

If you have a lawyer, YOU SHOULD KNOW AT ALL TIMES THE STATUS OF YOUR CASE, AND YOUR ATTORNEY SHOULD KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR ONGOING DOCTORS’ APPOINTMENTS.

At Kiefer Law Office, we keep a system where we have notes on every single case on our calendar.  It contains notes of EVERY DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT.  We ask that clients call us after every doctor’s appointment, and if they don’t, we call you.  It is completely reasonable to expect to hear from your attorney monthly, or even more frequently depending on the treatment you’re receiving.

Once you’re released from treatment, you should be told the next step.  The settlement and negotiation process should be explained to you, and you should KNOW OF EVERY OFFER received.  NO SETTLEMENT SHOULD BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT YOUR ATTORNEY DISCUSSING IT WITH YOU.

Most importantly, you should feel confident to call your attorney anytime you have a questions.  You should feel important, you should feel a sense of control in your case, and you should feel that your attorney is compassionate about your situation.

Call us and we’ll will show you how we do business.
